Heaven Fest

Check out
Mike Durrall’s blog post about a Christian rock festival coming to Colorado.

What do you think? Would you go to a UU rock festival? Do you think there are young people in your congregation who would? How about the young people who used to be in your congregation, but never come any more?

And, in case you didn’t already follow the link, here’s the money quote:

While some traditional churches have incorporated contemporary music into their services, the vast majority do not grasp the extraordinary power of new music and its message in reaching younger generations. As the old saying goes, diverse music in many churches ranges from the major works of Bach to the minor works of Bach.

Here’s a song by the headliners, Casting Crowns, that I have played for our worship. Without the imagery, the message fits very well with UU values: “If you don’t know where you’re going, there’s a good chance you’ll end up there.”

Can you understand this message without translation of culture or traditions?

Come to think of it. . .

    The message:

“If you don’t know where you’re going, there’s a good chance you’ll end up there.”

Fits all to well with U*U behaviour. . .
